About

We provide the expertise, stewardship and commitment to service that enable one of the world's leading public research universities to not only run, but to excel.

The Office of Finance and Administration is entrusted with the management of NC State University — its resources, employees and environments. As responsible stewards of both the university’s land-grant mission and its strategic plan, we are focused on the future and prepared for the present. We ensure that our university operates effectively, serving the needs of our NC State community so all of our students, faculty and staff can Think and Do.

Experienced Leadership

As executive vice chancellor, Charles Maimone brings more than 30 years of experience in public higher education to his role as NC State’s chief financial officer. He joined NC State in 2019, at a prime moment to facilitate the completion of one strategic plan and the development of the next.

Expertise You Can Count On

With the expertise of more than 3,700 dedicated employees across our seven divisions, we’re putting every investment in NC State to effective use. Our divisions manage NC State’s $2 billion operating budget and $2.3 billion in financial transactions, including payroll for more than 9,000 faculty, staff and student employees.

We support the university’s physical environment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by maintaining 450 buildings on the Raleigh campus and nearly 1,200 buildings and structures on more than 100,000 acres across the state. Emergency and safety operations, university police, parking and bus lines are managed by our divisions, along with student-facing services such as dining, student centers and the bookstore.

We steward the university’s $2 billion endowment and manage NC State’s real estate portfolio, on campus and across the state. And we lead university human resources processes for all phases of employee life-cycles, partnering with units and colleges to ensure NC State is a great place to work.

Principled Approach

Our Principles of Work guide our decisions and set our standards for serving, operating and managing our assets and resources, including our most valuable resource — our people. They are:

  • Employee engagement
  • Customer service
  • Responsible stewardship

We provide guidance and support to our partners across the university, helping colleges and units address their evolving business and operational needs. We are dedicated to effectiveness, excellence and compliance at every level of the institution, and we bring people together to develop plans for the long-term success of NC State.
