Charles Maimone serves as the executive vice chancellor for finance and administration for NC State University — a $2 billion university enterprise and home to nearly 40,000 students and over 9,000 faculty, staff and student employees.
Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration
Executive Vice Chancellor Charles A. Maimone leads the Office of Finance and Administration (OFA) with strategic oversight of the university’s seven major business operations divisions: Finance, Real Estate and Development, Facilities, University Human Resources, Budget and Resource Management, Campus Enterprises, and Environmental Health and Public Safety. He reports to the chancellor, serves on the Chancellor’s Cabinet and works with university leaders to ensure prudent and proper administration, operation and stewardship of university resources.
Additionally, Maimone serves as the treasurer (ex officio) for the Board of Trustees of the Endowment Fund of North Carolina State University. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of the university’s $2 billion endowment fund in support of NC State’s teaching, research and public service mission.

Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration
Maimone brings more than 30 years of experience in public higher education to his role as NC State’s chief financial officer, with a focus on university effectiveness, service, engagement and stewardship. He instituted the Principles of Work and Service Maturity Model at NC State to increase organizational effectiveness, sophisticate service delivery and promote optimal stewardship of university resources.
Maimone serves on the board of directors and is chair of the finance committee for MCNC, an economic development nonprofit providing internet connectivity to rural and underserved communities throughout North Carolina. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Foundation Investment Fund, Inc.
Maimone came to NC State in 2019, after serving as vice chancellor for business affairs at UNC Greensboro and in similar leadership roles with UNC Wilmington and the College of William and Mary. Maimone holds an undergraduate degree and Master of Education degree from Kent State University, and he earned his MBA from the College of William and Mary. He has held executive leadership roles with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Educational Advisory Board. Maimone is a certified public manager.
